Award-winning Ghanaian musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal have partnered with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to promote locally manufactured gold jewellery as part of efforts to deepen value addition within Ghana’s gold industry, expand employment opportunities and strengthen the country’s position as a leading jewellery production hub in Africa.
The collaboration is expected to support the government’s broader industrialisation agenda by encouraging greater domestic consumption and international visibility for Made-in-Ghana gold jewellery, allowing more value from the country’s mineral resources to be retained within the local economy rather than exported in raw form.
The two artistes paid a courtesy call on GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, where they discussed a strategic partnership that will see them use their influence to promote GoldBod Jewellery across local and international platforms.
Under the arrangement, Shatta Wale and Medikal will showcase Ghanaian-made gold jewellery through their music performances, public appearances, social media platforms and international engagements, including the upcoming ShattaFest UK, to demonstrate the quality and craftsmanship of locally produced jewellery to global audiences.

Sammy Gyamfi described the collaboration as an important step towards “strengthening Ghana’s jewellery industry”, noting that increased local value addition would help create sustainable jobs while positioning Ghana as “Africa’s premier hub for gold value addition.”
The partnership reflects the growing role of Ghana’s creative industry in supporting industrial development by promoting locally manufactured products and expanding market opportunities for domestic producers.
The initiative aligns with GoldBod’s objective of increasing value addition within Ghana’s gold sector by encouraging the production, branding and consumption of locally crafted jewellery, thereby supporting enterprise development and broader economic growth.
GoldBod said the collaboration demonstrates how promoting Made-in-Ghana products can generate employment, increase the value derived from the country’s natural resources and contribute to building a stronger national economy.
