The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) has launched a comprehensive capacity-building initiative aimed at training skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled Ghanaians across multiple areas of the petroleum downstream sector. The programme is designed to develop a robust support base for investors during the construction of essential infrastructure such as civil works and drainage systems.
In collaboration with Canary Consulting & Trading (CCT) and Aurum Global Partners (AGP), PHDC aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of Ghanaians, preparing them to meet the demands of the petroleum industry. Key partnerships with the University of Las Palmas, the Finnova Foundation, and Cassa Africa of the Canary Islands government are expected to provide trainees with world-class expertise in the field.

These partnerships not only promise to deliver top-tier training but also strengthen the “Sister-Sister” relationship between Ghana’s Western Region and the Canary Islands. This collaboration will focus on fostering innovation and education, offering trainees essential skills in various modules, including Environmental technologies for managing hazardous materials, Best practices in oil and gas maintenance, Air pollution prevention and water treatment management and Smart city development and sustainability. The rest are Fire prevention and pipeline safety, and Project management planning.
The initiative aims to bolster Ghana’s human capital by developing the local workforce into key players in the global petroleum downstream industry. PHDC’s efforts, in partnership with CCT and AGP, reflect a unified strategy to elevate Ghana’s natural resources and human potential on the global stage.

The Petroleum Hub Development, an ambitious project, valued at over $60 billion, will be developed in three phases. Contracts for the first phase have already been executed with a consortium of Chinese and Ghanaian investors.
