Perseus Mining Ghana Limited Company (PMGLC), operator of the Edikan Gold Mine, has announced a transition in leadership aimed at strengthening its operations and advancing its long-term growth strategy.
The appointments, effective July `1, 2025, highlight Perseus Mining’s commitment to nurturing Ghanaian talent and building a resilient, future-ready management team.
Daniel Egya-Mensah, currently General Manager of Edikan, has been elevated to the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer of PMGLC. Daniel, who joined Perseus in 2023, brings over 25 years of experience from senior roles at Newmont, AngloGold Ashanti, and Teberebie Goldfields. Under his leadership, Edikan has consistently met production, cost, and safety targets, positioning the mine on a solid footing for 2025.
Daniel’s new role will see him provide strategic direction across PMGLC’s operations and lead stakeholder engagements as the company continues to consolidate its position in Ghana’s mining sector.
Stepping into Daniel’s former role as General Manager of Edikan Gold Mine is Alexander Kofi Oduro, formerly the Mining and Technical Services Manager. With 17 years of mining experience locally and internationally, Alexander has been pivotal in advancing mine planning and operational efficiency at Edikan. His promotion reflects the company’s confidence in his ability to guide Edikan through its next phase of operational excellence and innovation.
Meanwhile, Amatus Niminye, previously Mine Operations Superintendent, has been appointed Mining and Technical Services Manager. Known for leading greenfield projects and introducing innovative blasting techniques, Amatus has demonstrated a strong focus on both operational performance and sustainability.
Commenting on the leadership changes, Jeff Quartermaine, CEO and Managing Director of Perseus Mining Limited, said:
“The foundation of our long-term success lies in the strength of our people. These key appointments are a clear reflection of our deep commitment to developing talent from within and building a culture of leadership and excellence throughout our operations. I am proud to see this next generation of Ghanaian leaders step into strategic roles that will help shape the future of our business in Ghana.”
Perseus Mining emphasised that 100% of Edikan’s management and workforce are Ghanaian nationals, underlining its focus on local capacity building and sustainable development in the communities where it operates. The company sees this transition as critical for ensuring continuity, strengthening stakeholder relations, and achieving its ambitious growth and production targets.
As the global mining industry increasingly focuses on local content, sustainability, and operational resilience, Perseus Mining’s strategic appointments at Edikan mark a proactive step in securing its future as a leading player in Ghana’s gold sector.
