The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has sought stronger collaboration with the Office of the Vice President to accelerate business formalisation, expand access to company registration services and support the government’s efforts to improve Ghana’s business environment and enterprise development.
The engagement formed part of a courtesy call by the Registrar of Companies, Mrs. Maame Samma Peprah, on Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, where discussions centred on ongoing reforms to make business registration more accessible and improve compliance, particularly among businesses operating in the informal sector.
Peprah said the ORC was implementing nationwide business registration and sensitisation clinics aimed at bringing services closer to entrepreneurs while promoting the benefits of formalising businesses. She said the initiative was intended to improve access to registration services, increase awareness of legal obligations and strengthen compliance with Ghana’s business registration laws.
She described the programme as part of the Office’s commitment to supporting the government’s agenda of building a more “inclusive” and “transparent” business environment by ensuring entrepreneurs across the country can more easily register their businesses.

The Registrar also briefed the Vice President on the Office’s statutory mandate, institutional reforms and strategic initiatives designed to improve service delivery and strengthen the country’s business registration framework.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang commended the ORC for its efforts to improve Ghana’s business environment through public education and outreach, encouraging the Office to continue initiatives that simplify registration processes and make services more accessible nationwide.
She also urged the institution to strengthen public communication by consistently highlighting its reforms, achievements and outreach activities, saying greater visibility would help build public confidence and encourage voluntary compliance with business registration requirements.
According to the Vice President, keeping citizens informed about the Office’s work would enable more entrepreneurs to benefit from its services while supporting broader efforts to deepen business formalisation across the country.
The meeting emphasized the shared commitment of the government and the ORC to strengthening business formalisation, improving the ease of doing business and creating an enabling environment for enterprise growth and economic development.
