The Bishop Herman Old Boys Union of North America (BHOBU-NA) has successfully raised over US$100,000 at its Fundraising Dinner Dance held at the Hilton Hotels in Fairfax, Virginia, marking a decisive step toward building a sustainable endowment to support Bishop Herman College.
The event, held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, also featured the official launch of the Bishop Herman College Endowment Fund, an ambitious initiative targeting US$1,000,000 over the next five years. The fund is designed to provide long-term support for scholarships, infrastructure development, and student welfare.
Delivering the keynote address, Bishop Dr. Evans Glover, an alumnus of the school, called on old students and partners to rise to the responsibility of shaping the next generation.
“I must speak plainly tonight as Bishop Herman taught us to do,” he said. “The young people walking those grounds today are stepping into a world that is more complex, more competitive, and in many ways more unforgiving than the one we met. The economy has shifted, the job market has changed, and the skills required today go far beyond what an under-resourced system can provide.”
He warned that without sustained investment, many brilliant students risk being left behind despite their potential.
The evening brought together alumni, patrons, and friends of the school in a moment of reflection, solidarity, and giving, with strong financial commitments recorded toward the newly launched fund.
The newly elected President of BHOBU-NA, Dr. John-Jeremiah Kretchy, expressed optimism that the momentum generated will galvanise alumni across the world to mobilise resources and help reset the school onto a stronger path of academic excellence supported by improved infrastructure.
At the close of the event, BHOBU-NA and the Past Ola Girls Association of North America (POGA-NA) announced plans for a joint 2027 Congress and Fundraising Dinner Dance, deepening collaboration between the two alumni bodies.
The Planning and Executive Committees of BHOBU-NA expressed their appreciation to all donors, sponsors, members, and partners whose contributions made the event a success, with special recognition to POGA-NA for their partnership and solidarity throughout the process.
