The La-Dadekotopon Municipality in Greater Accra is set to welcome a new multi-purpose Trade Fair and Exhibition Centre, expected to be completed within eight months. This ambitious project, funded through a public-private partnership, will feature a 30,000-seater auditorium, alongside gift shops, restaurants, hotels, and ample parking space, aimed at enhancing Ghana’s capacity for trade exhibitions, conferences, and entertainment events.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia emphasized the importance of the tourism and creative sectors for economic growth during his recent site visit. He noted that previous governments had struggled to execute this much-needed project, which is essential for leveraging Ghana’s potential as a prime destination for events like the annual “December in Ghana” concerts.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that the new facility will provide the necessary infrastructure to support the tourism and creative industries, which he views as pivotal to the country’s development agenda. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and commended the Ghana Trade Fair Centre’s management for their efforts.

Dr. Agnes Adu, CEO of the Ghana Trade Fair Centre, stated that the new centre will revitalize the creative industry by providing a venue suitable for larger events, addressing the current limitation of existing facilities that can only accommodate 3,000 guests. She believes this development will significantly enhance Ghana’s appeal in the creative arts sector.
Additionally, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to allocate 3% of government expenditure, amounting to GHC 30 billion, to the private sector. This strategy aims to alleviate financial burdens on the government while fostering investment in critical infrastructure projects.
The Trade Fair Centre will also allocate space for the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) Secretariat, further underscoring its role as a hub for trade and commerce in West Africa.
