Network International has announced the successful enablement of Apple Pay acceptance for four Egyptian banks by powering card tokenisation for Apple smartphones, marking a new milestone in Egypt’s digital payments evolution.
The rollout forms part of the third wave of tokenisation licences granted by the Central Bank of Egypt and is expected to strengthen the country’s rapidly expanding digital payment ecosystem.
According to Network International, supporting four bank go-lives within the same regulatory wave highlights the scale and resilience of its processing platform, as well as its local delivery capabilities. The company said the deployment meets the highest standards of security and operational resilience as Egypt advances its broader digital transformation agenda.
Dr. Reda Helal, Group Managing Director – Processing, Africa and Co-Head Group Processing at Network International, said the company was proud to support the banks’ digital transformation efforts.
“We have been present in the market for over 20 years and delivering multiple simultaneous implementations demonstrates our local teams’ expertise and the robustness of our processing platform,” he said, adding that the company remains committed to accelerating secure and scalable digital payments across Egypt.
The development also aligns with Network International’s strategy to deepen its footprint in Egypt and the wider region. In 2023, the company announced an investment of EGP 1 billion to expand its Egyptian operations. From its Egypt hub, the fintech firm serves more than 160 banks across Africa and over 65 in the Middle East.
Network International, which operates in more than 50 countries, provides payment processing and technology solutions to banks, fintechs, merchants and public sector entities across the Middle East and Africa.
