Network International, a leading fintech company across the Middle East and Africa, has partnered with Al Seraj Islamic Bank (SIB) to accelerate digital payments and expand financial inclusion in Libya. The agreement, signed this week, positions SIB to modernize its payment infrastructure and deliver secure, Shariah-compliant digital banking services nationwide.
Under the partnership, Network International will provide end-to-end digital payment processing solutions, including Visa sponsorship, prepaid card issuance, and a suite of value-added services. The collaboration is designed to streamline operations, enhance customer experience, and expand access to secure digital payments for individuals and businesses across Libya.
“This partnership marks a significant milestone for Libya’s financial sector,” said Mohamed Abu Gebba, Regional Managing Director – Processing, North Africa, at Network International. “Al Seraj Islamic Bank’s decision to partner with us reflects our leadership in the MEA region and our ability to deliver innovative, dependable solutions that transform payment ecosystems. Together, we aim to advance financial inclusion, support the bank’s growth ambitions, and empower communities with secure, modern payment services.”
Foze Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of Al Seraj Islamic Bank, added: “Partnering with Network International was a strategic decision driven by their proven service excellence, strong market reputation, and deep understanding of Libya’s banking landscape. Their end-to-end processing capabilities will enable us to launch advanced digital products, enhance customer experience, and accelerate our growth trajectory. This partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class, Shariah-compliant digital banking solutions across Libya.”
The digital payment services are scheduled to go live in Q1 2026, marking a critical step in SIB’s strategy to expand its footprint, grow market share, and establish itself as a leading institution in the Libyan banking sector.
The partnership also aligns with Libya’s broader financial inclusion agenda, aiming to provide secure and reliable payment services to underserved communities and encourage greater economic participation across the country.
Network International serves more than 250 financial institutions and over 240,000 merchants across 50 countries, providing innovative technology and payment solutions. Al Seraj Islamic Bank, meanwhile, is Libya’s pioneering Islamic financial institution, emphasizing transparency, fairness, and Shariah-compliant banking while focusing on customer-centric digital-first products.
