Nestlé Ghana has moved to reassure consumers and protect confidence in the local infant nutrition market following reports of an international recall of certain infant formula products.
In a statement, the company clarified that infant formula sold in Ghana is not part of the voluntary and precautionary recall announced in some overseas markets, stressing that all products distributed locally meet Ghana’s regulatory standards.
According to Nestlé Ghana, all infant formula products officially registered with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) remain unaffected by the recall, underscoring the robustness of local regulatory oversight and quality assurance processes. The company said its full SMA range SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2 and SMA Gold 3 as well as its NAN Optipro products, including NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2 and NAN Optipro 3, are safe for consumption and continue to be supplied through approved distribution channels.
The clarification comes at a time of heightened consumer sensitivity around infant nutrition and product safety, where global recalls can quickly influence local purchasing decisions. By addressing the issue promptly, Nestlé Ghana aims to limit market uncertainty and reassure parents and caregivers.
Nestlé Ghana emphasized that product safety and quality are central to its business operations, with strict adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal quality controls.
“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, are our top priorities,” the company said.
The company encouraged consumers to continue purchasing infant nutrition products through official outlets and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high safety standards and consumer trust in Ghana’s infant formula market.
