The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced an ambitious plan to establish Farmer Service Centres in every district across Ghana as part of their strategy to modernize the agricultural sector. These centres will provide farmers with access to advanced farming technologies, equipment, and inputs, aiming to make agriculture more efficient and productive.
This initiative is a key component of the NDC’s broader Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, which also includes the rollout of a “Feed Ghana Programme” to boost food production, ensure food security, and supply raw materials to industries. The Farmer Service Centres are expected to play a vital role in reducing food inflation and lowering the overall cost of living.

In addition to the service centres, the NDC plans to create Farm Banks within designated agricultural zones. These banks will provide farmers with easier access to land, irrigation facilities, and tailored financial services, such as low-interest loans and crop insurance. The goal is to facilitate large-scale farming and encourage youth participation in agriculture.
These initiatives, the party hopes will transform Ghana’s agricultural landscape, enhance food security, create jobs, and contribute to the country’s overall economic development. By investing in modern technologies and infrastructure, the NDC aims to increase agricultural productivity and reduce post-harvest losses, which currently account for significant economic setbacks in the sector.

To ensure the success of these initiatives, the NDC has committed to collaborating closely with farmers, agricultural cooperatives, and research institutions to develop tailored solutions for different regions and crops. The party also plans to strengthen extension services and provide training to farmers on sustainable farming practices and climate-smart agriculture.
