Ghana’s much-anticipated Nationalism Park opened on December 20, 2024, marking a historic moment in the country’s cultural and national celebration. As part of the “December in Ghana” festivities, the park will serve as a focal point for unity, national pride, and honoring the nation’s rich heritage.
Nationalism Park is a unique space dedicated to commemorating Ghana’s evolution, from the struggles for independence to the ongoing quest for national identity and progress. The park pays tribute to significant milestones and the heroes who shaped Ghana’s journey toward self-determination and unity.
In a statement, Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Akwasi Agyeman emphasized the park’s significance: “Nationalism Park is a site for national, community, and social cohesion, where we can all come together as Ghanaians and celebrate our past heroes and leaders.” He further expressed hope that the space would foster dialogue, education, and patriotism, encouraging citizens to reflect on Ghana’s values of unity and progress.

The park is a collaborative effort involving the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, and National Security. Together, these bodies have worked to develop a world-class site that will attract tourists while enhancing local economies by creating jobs and driving hospitality growth in the area.
Located between Independence Square and Accra Sports Stadium in Greater Accra, the park features several attractions, including a city lighting park, two monuments—one honoring Nii Kwabena Bonnie III, and another symbolizing national pride with an egg on rocks—along with a restaurant, snack bar, and children’s play area.
The opening of Nationalism Park is expected to significantly boost tourism in Ghana, reinforcing the country’s status as a leading destination for cultural heritage and unity.
