Financial services platform Mukuru has announced a strategic partnership with foreign exchange leader Travelex to expand cash payout options for remittance customers across South Africa.
Through the collaboration, Mukuru customers can now access funds at any of Travelex’s 46 nationwide branches, located in high-traffic, easily accessible areas. The expanded network reduces travel time, avoids congestion, and ensures reliable access to cash for millions of South Africans who depend on remittances for daily needs.
The partnership is supported by South Africa’s strong Bureau de Change (BdC) regulatory framework, which ensures secure, compliant, and reliable transactions. On-site know-your-customer (KYC) procedures further safeguard customers and reinforce trust in the payout network.
“This partnership extends Mukuru’s reach while maintaining high standards of security, compliance, and service,” said Yemurai Chatapura, Commercial Manager – Remittances at Mukuru. “It strengthens our payout network and reinforces our commitment to accessible, inclusive financial services across South Africa.”
Marlize Van Der Schyff, Financial Director at Travelex, added, “We are excited to partner with Mukuru to deliver a seamless, future-ready service experience, leveraging our nationwide branch network to reach more customers efficiently.”
The alliance also reduces Mukuru’s reliance on single-channel payout solutions, diversifying its ecosystem and enhancing resilience. With operations in over 50 countries and a growing customer base, Mukuru continues to expand its footprint across Africa, providing safe and convenient financial services to those who rely on remittances.
