MTN Uganda has unveiled a new inclusive ICT Lab at Mvara Secondary School in Arua City, aimed at expanding digital access for learners with special needs. The facility will serve over 100 students and comes equipped with 10 computers, Bluetooth speakers, a JAWS screen reader for visually impaired users, and one year of free internet access.
The initiative is part of MTN Uganda’s broader effort to promote digital inclusivity in education. During the commissioning, Philip Odoi, MTN’s Regional Commercial Head for Northern Uganda, said the lab represents more than just infrastructure. “It is an opportunity for every learner to succeed, regardless of their ability,” he noted.
Annet Dilea, the Education Officer for Special Needs, welcomed the development, calling it a “gift of dignity and equal opportunity.” City Education Officer Asiku Geoffrey added that the lab “serves as a reminder to every child that they have a place in the digital world.”
MTN Uganda credited Sense International Uganda and the Arua education team as key partners in the project, which is part of the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and supporting inclusive education across the country.
