Trading on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) intensified on Tuesday as market activity surged, led by gains in financial stocks and a notable upswing in investor participation.
The GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) declined marginally by 25.37 points to close at 6,012.29, representing a 0.42 percent dip from the previous session. Despite the pullback, the broader market index maintains a solid 22.99 percent gain since the start of the year.
In contrast, the GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) advanced by 22.12 points to end the session at 3,244.81. The index has now recorded a year-to-date growth of 36.29 percent, underscoring continued strength in the financial sector.

Market Activity Jumps
Total trading volume rose sharply to 1.93 million shares, up from 419,718 shares on Monday — marking a more than fourfold increase. Market turnover followed suit, climbing to GH₵5.1 million from GH₵1.49 million in the previous session. The surge in volume and value reflects increased liquidity and broad-based participation across key counters.
Market capitalization dipped slightly from GH₵134.82 billion to GH₵134.17 billion, in line with the minor decline in the composite index.
Price Gainers and Losers
Several equities recorded price gains, led by Access Bank Ghana PLC, which closed at GH₵13.12, up GH₵0.92. GCB Bank PLC also performed strongly, adding GH₵0.72 to close at GH₵8.80. Benso Palm Plantation PLC advanced GH₵3.08 to end at GH₵34.20, while Ghana Oil Company PLC added GH₵0.11 to close at GH₵1.91.
Fan Milk PLC and SIC Insurance Company PLC posted modest gains, rising by GH₵0.01 and GH₵0.03 respectively. Both stocks closed the session at GH₵4.11 and GH₵1.04.
On the downside, MTN Ghana, despite dominating the trading session in value and volume, declined by GH₵0.05 to close at GH₵2.82. The stock accounted for over GH₵4.5 million in turnover, with more than 1.6 million shares traded.
Other decliners included Ecobank Transnational Inc., which shed GH₵0.02 to close at GH₵0.85, and Cal Bank PLC, which lost GH₵0.01 to finish at GH₵0.57.
