MTN Ghana has issued a public assurance to its Mobile Money (MoMo) customers, affirming that their funds remain safe and secure. This statement comes in response to recent concerns about potential system compromises.
In a message shared across MTN Ghana’s official social media platforms, the company emphasized: “Y’ello Valued Customer, MoMo from MTN remains safe and secure. We prioritize your safety, disregard any claims about system compromise.”
This reassurance follows reports of a cybersecurity breach affecting approximately 5,700 MTN customers. While MTN confirmed the incident, it clarified that the core systems, including the MoMo platform, remain uncompromised. The company says it’s conducting a forensic investigation to assess the breach’s scope and has committed to contacting affected customers directly.
MTN Ghana continues to advise customers to remain vigilant against fraud. Key recommendations include:
- Keeping MoMo PIN codes confidential.
- Being cautious of unsolicited calls or messages requesting personal information.
- Regularly updating passwords and enabling multifactor authentication
