Ghanaian technology company and German development agency have launched an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot aimed at helping entrepreneurs navigate business regulations and compliance requirements, as policymakers push to expand digital support infrastructure for small businesses.
MNotify, in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, developed the Ghana Entrepreneurship Policy Chatbot, known as GEPBot, to provide entrepreneurs with verified information on business registration, regulatory compliance, standards and growth opportunities through a conversational digital platform.
The initiative comes as startups and small businesses across Ghana face increasing pressure to formalize operations while dealing with fragmented access to government and regulatory information.
According to the developers, the platform has already processed more than 5,000 messages, reflecting growing demand for digital tools that simplify access to business-related information.
The chatbot is part of the Digital Transformation for Inclusive Entrepreneurship in Ghana program, commissioned by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, known by its German acronym BMZ, and implemented by GIZ.
Developers said the platform is designed to reduce information barriers that often prevent entrepreneurs from understanding registration procedures, compliance obligations and available support programs.
The project also highlights the growing role of partnerships between local technology firms, development agencies and public institutions in advancing digital transformation efforts across Africa.
Governments and development partners across the continent are increasingly backing AI-driven public service tools as internet penetration and smartphone adoption rise, particularly among younger entrepreneurs and informal businesses.
GEPBot’s creators said the platform demonstrates how locally built digital infrastructure can support inclusive entrepreneurship while improving access to verified business information. The chatbot can be accessed through GEPBot.
