The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, under the leadership of Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is set to host a landmark National Agribusiness Dialogue in June aimed at transforming Ghana’s agribusiness landscape.
The high-level event will serve as a national platform for stakeholders across the agribusiness value chain—including industry experts, private sector players, financial institutions, policymakers, academia, and development partners—to collaboratively shape the future of the sector and contribute to the development of a National Agribusiness Strategy.
The Minister convened a pre-dialogue stakeholder planning session, during which participants shared key insights and proposed strategies to unlock the full potential of agribusiness in Ghana. Addressing the gathering, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare described the upcoming dialogue as “a reset moment” for the sector and a critical step toward achieving inclusive, sustainable economic growth.

A revitalised agribusiness sector, is essential to addressing some of Ghana’s most pressing challenges—including rising food costs, food inflation, and youth unemployment. By enhancing productivity, encouraging agro-processing, and attracting investment, agribusiness can help lower the cost of food while creating jobs across rural and urban communities.
Experts have long pointed to the need for stronger integration between agriculture and industry, noting that agribusiness holds immense potential not only for domestic food security but also for value-added exports. A robust National Agribusiness Strategy, stakeholders believe, will also help position Ghana as a regional leader in agricultural innovation and trade.
The dialogue is expected to generate actionable policy recommendations and forge stronger public-private partnerships to drive sustainable change.
