Meta Platforms Inc. is launching new AI-powered tools aimed at helping advertisers create and edit videos more efficiently, as it seeks to engage Facebook and Instagram users who are increasingly consuming video content. Announced on Tuesday, these new features, which will be widely available next year, will allow advertisers to use generative AI to transform static images into video ads, while also enabling automatic resizing and editing of video ads.
This push is part of Meta’s broader strategy to boost the time users spend on its platforms, allowing the company to show more ads. The company revealed that last month alone, advertisers created over 15 million ads using Meta’s generative AI tools. Previously, Meta had already offered AI-driven features that assist marketers in generating text and images for ads and optimizing customer targeting.

In addition to the AI tools, Meta is introducing a new dedicated video feed on its Facebook app, featuring full-screen videos that integrate short-form Reels, livestreams, and longer video content. This comes as 60% of user time on Facebook and Instagram is now spent watching videos. Last week, Meta also unveiled an AI tool that allows users to generate and edit videos using simple text prompts, further encouraging the creation of video content across its platforms.
