President John Dramani Mahama has announced his first set of ministerial nominees, filling key roles in finance, energy, and justice as part of his administration’s early appointments.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson has been nominated as Minister for Finance, John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy, and Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
Dr. Forson, the Finance Minister-designate, is an accomplished economist and Chartered Accountant with extensive expertise in public finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and tax management.
A five-term Member of Parliament, Dr. Forson holds a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and advanced degrees in Taxation and Economics from the University of Oxford and KNUST. His nomination signals the president’s intent to tackle Ghana’s fiscal challenges with seasoned expertise.
Hon. John Jinapor, nominated as Minister for Energy, is expected to bring fresh dynamism to the energy sector. Known for his hands-on experience in energy economics and policy, Jinapor’s academic credentials include a Master of Arts in Economic Policy Management, an MBA in Marketing, and an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Ghana.
He also holds an MSc in Energy Economics from GIMPA. Jinapor’s role will be critical in addressing the country’s ongoing power challenges and implementing sustainable energy solutions.
Dr. Ayine, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice designate, brings three decades of legal practice and academic excellence to the table. A former Deputy Attorney General, he holds a PhD in Law from Stanford University, an LLM from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ghana.
As a former law lecturer at the University of Ghana and the founding partner of Ayine & Partners Law Offices, he is well-positioned to oversee Ghana’s legal and justice system.
These individuals are expected to take on critical roles in stabilizing the economy, transforming the energy sector, and strengthening the country’s legal framework.
Parliament is now tasked with vetting and confirming these ministerial nominees in the coming days, setting the stage for the government’s policy direction under Mahama’s leadership.
