President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency in the management of oil revenues earmarked for his ambitious $10 billion “Big Push” infrastructure programme.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), President Mahama emphasised that the funds would be efficiently deployed to deliver maximum value for Ghanaians.
“We are allocating $2 billion annually over the next five years to priority infrastructure projects nationwide,” he stated, outlining that the “Big Push” will focus on roads, major bridges, education, health facilities, and initiatives to enhance productivity in agriculture.
He further explained that agricultural interventions under the programme would include irrigation schemes, the establishment of farmer service centres, and support for agribusiness development to strengthen food security and rural incomes.
“The primary sources of funding for this significant policy initiative will be petroleum revenue and minerals royalties,” President Mahama disclosed.

The PIAC delegation, led by Chairman Mr Constantine K.M. Kudzedzi, visited to congratulate President Mahama on his recent election victory and discuss strategies for effective management of Ghana’s oil resources.
Commending PIAC’s oversight work, the President said, “PIAC is a commendable model for other countries seeking effective mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability in the utilisation of petroleum revenues.”
The $10 billion “Big Push” is positioned as a transformative driver to stimulate economic growth, bridge infrastructure gaps, and create jobs across critical sectors.
