Nigerian energy company Levene Energy has been named Local Content Champion at African Energy Week (AEW) 2025, recognizing its leadership in promoting local participation, skills development, and industrial capacity across West Africa.
The award, presented at AEW: Invest in African Energies, celebrates organizations that go beyond regulatory compliance to embed local talent and suppliers into their operations. Levene Energy was specifically recognized for successfully scaling African-led projects, mentoring local talent, and strengthening supply chains.
Levene Energy’s initiatives include expanding hybrid mini-grid solutions in underserved Nigerian communities, supporting the distribution of low-carbon gas, and operating two bitumen exploration and production assets. These projects aim to develop durable industrial capacity across West Africa while fostering inclusive economic growth.
“Levene Energy’s recognition as the Local Content Champion is a testament to what can be achieved when companies place African people at the heart of their operations,” said NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber (AEC). “Energy development must be an engine of opportunity for African workers, businesses, and communities.”
Through training programs, local enterprise support, and professional development, Levene Energy has helped strengthen Africa’s competitiveness in the global energy market. Its people-centered approach illustrates how private sector investment can drive transformation by pairing capital with skills and knowledge transfer.
African Energy Week, hosted by the AEC, is Africa’s premier energy forum, bringing together governments, investors, and stakeholders to discuss industry partnerships and advancement. Levene Energy’s recognition at the African Energy Awards reinforces its reputation as a trusted partner in advancing sustainable, locally empowering energy solutions across the continent.
