After Virgin Atlantic Announced Operation In Accra
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), says Kotoka International Airport ‘Terminal 2’ will be in full use to ease congestion and long queues at Terminal 3 after Virgin Atlantic airline announced its operations in Accra in May.
Mrs Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of GACL said with the growing number of Airlines working out of Ghana, the Board and Management decided to utilize the use of Terminal of Kotoka International Airport to its optimal level, by having some more of the airlines operate from Terminal 2. This will decongest Terminal 3, ease long queues and enhance passenger travel, for both passengers and airlines.
She said Virgin Atlantic’s return was expected to provide the travelling public with greater connectivity options, connecting passengers from Ghana to various destinations worldwide.
A statement issued in Accra by the airport company said that the return of Virgin Atlantic Airline to operate from Ghana underscored confidence in Ghana’s aviation industry.
It said the return would significantly boost efforts to establish Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in the airport business in West Africa.
She expressed excitement about the return, saying ‘’We are thrilled to welcome Virgin Atlantic back to Ghana, which will become the 25th international airline to operate at Kotoka International Airport.”
She said the Airport Company looked forward to collaborating with Virgin Atlantic to ensure a seamless launch of their operations and continued facilitation at the airport.
