Karpowership Ghana has announced the appointment of seasoned energy expert, Ing. Oscar Kojo Amonoo-Neizer, as its new Managing Director. This appointment comes at a pivotal time in Ghana’s energy landscape, where consistent power supply remains a national priority.
Ing. Amonoo-Neizer brings to the helm over three decades of unparalleled experience in the energy sector, with a distinguished track record in policy formulation, regulatory enforcement, energy management, and technical systems design. His professional journey reflects a rare blend of deep technical acumen and visionary leadership—a combination that positions him to steer Karpowership Ghana into its next chapter of innovation and impact.
Prior to his appointment, Ing. Amonoo-Neizer served as the Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission of Ghana. In this capacity, he played a central role in shaping the country’s energy policies and strengthening the regulatory framework. His leadership was instrumental in the nationwide rollout of technical regulations, the introduction of energy efficiency standards, and the establishment of robust compliance mechanisms in both the electricity and natural gas sectors.
Before that, he held the role of Director of Energy at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), where he led transformative initiatives including technical audits, regulatory enforcement, and the development of sector-wide policies aimed at improving reliability and efficiency within the power sector.
As an alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ing. Amonoo-Neizer is a trained Electrical Engineer with an Executive MBA from the University of Ghana Business School and a Postgraduate Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Fachhochschule Aachen in Germany. He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) and has been a key participant in several high-level international energy negotiations and regulatory forums.
Commenting on his new role, Ing. Amonoo-Neizer noted; “As the new Managing Director of Karpowership Ghana, I am excited to lead a company that remains deeply committed to delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable power to the national grid. Our focus will be on operational excellence, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure we not only meet the current energy demands of Ghana but also contribute to its long-term energy security.”
Karpowership Ghana, a subsidiary of the global Karadeniz Energy Group, is a major contributor to Ghana’s power generation mix, providing dependable electricity through its floating power plants. With Ing. Amonoo-Neizer at the helm, industry watchers anticipate a renewed push for efficiency, capacity optimization, and strategic expansion.

Stakeholders within the energy space are optimistic that under Amonoo-Neizer’s leadership, Karpowership Ghana will not only maintain its pivotal role in powering the national grid but also explore forward-looking initiatives such as renewable integration, advanced grid technologies, and regional energy collaborations.
As Ghana continues to navigate complex energy demands amid industrial expansion and urban growth, the big question remains: Will the new Managing Director rise to the challenge and secure a future of uninterrupted power for the nation? If his track record is any indication, the odds appear promising.
