The Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI), in collaboration with the ICT Club and the Department of Mathematics Education at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a Skills and Multi-IT Summit to equip students with skills in technology and innovation. The session attracted a large number of participants, including university students and Senior High School (SHS) students, as well as educators and industry experts.
The summit featured hands-on training sessions, exhibitions of prototype technology equipment by student groups, and insightful discussions on the future of technology in Ghana. Participants were divided into different lecture halls, where seasoned professionals and experts delivered practical lessons on a wide range of topics, from digital marketing to artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking at the event, Prof. Victor Antwi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of UEW and co-chair of the summit, emphasized the importance of Ghana catching up with global advancements in AI. He noted, “the way AI is being abused is what I don’t like; however, if we can control it, it will go a long way to help us develop. Where it has gotten to in the world, let us catch up with them quickly and move along so that we as a nation would not be left behind.”

These sessions provided participants with insights and practical skills, empowering them to explore new career paths and innovate in their respective fields.
A highlight of the event was the exhibition of prototype technology equipment by student groups. The showcase demonstrated the creativity and technical prowess of Ghanaian students, highlighting the potential for homegrown solutions to address local and global challenges.

The summit was graced by notable guests, including: Peter Bismarck Kwofie (Lead Organizer and Executive Director, ILAPI) Prof. Stephen Johnson Mitchual (Vice Chancellor, UEW) – Chairman for the event, Prof. Samuel Kwesi Asiedu (Former Dean of Graduate School, UEW), Prof. Victus Samlafo (Dean of the Faculty of Science, UEW) – Co-Chair, Dr. Sylvester Ali Frimpong (Head of Department, Mathematics Education, UEW). In his closing remarks, Peter Bismark Kwofie, Executive Director of ILAPI, expressed his gratitude to all participants, facilitators, and partners for making the event a success. He reiterated ILAPI’s commitment to promoting innovation, liberty, and policy reforms that empower individuals and communities.
