The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) is seeking Hungarian investment to expand Ghana’s export-oriented industries, following talks between the Authority’s Chief Executive, Dr. Mary Awusi, and Hungarian Ambassador to Ghana Tamás Endre Fehér in Accra on September 15.
Dr. Awusi presented the incentives available under the Free Zones Programme, including tax exemptions and access to serviced land, as well as Ghana’s push to attract foreign businesses into designated zones. She said Hungary’s expertise in education and agriculture offered strong potential synergies with Ghana’s industrialization agenda.

Ambassador Fehér said Hungarian firms are particularly interested in chemical materials, poultry production, and vocational training initiatives, and signaled the embassy’s readiness to facilitate investor engagement. He requested a follow-up meeting to deepen discussions on Ghana’s Free Zones scheme.
The Free Zones Authority will also join upcoming Hungarian business meetings in Accra and Budapest to promote investment opportunities. According to officials, the talks underscore Ghana’s strategy of building international partnerships to boost exports, create jobs, and strengthen its role in global supply chains.
