The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced a planned shutdown of the 161kV Akosombo–Nkawkaw transmission line to facilitate ongoing road expansion works along the Kumasi–Accra highway.
The shutdown, scheduled to run from Sunday, October 5 to Tuesday, October 14, 2025, will allow engineers to relocate two transmission towers situated within the highway’s construction corridor.
GRIDCo explained that the relocation exercise is being carried out in close collaboration with the Ghana Highway Authority to ensure that the road project progresses smoothly without disrupting essential power infrastructure.
The company assured the public that measures have been put in place to guarantee a stable power supply during the period of the shutdown.
It further indicated that technical teams will remain on standby throughout the exercise to respond promptly to any unforeseen challenges.
“GRIDCo regrets any inconvenience this necessary operation may cause and wishes to reassure Ghanaians of its continued commitment to reliable and efficient power transmission,” the statement added.
