Elsie Appau-Klu, Technical Advisor to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has been honoured with the Excellence in Governance and Public Policy award at the 16th African Achievers Awards and Investment Summit, held at the House of Lords in the UK Parliament.
The annual event, held on July 22, brought together distinguished leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and innovators from across Africa and the diaspora to celebrate individuals making outstanding contributions in governance, business, public service and social impact. The ceremony was hosted by Baroness Sandip Verma, Member of the UK House of Lords and Chancellor of the University of Roehampton, alongside Lord Simon Woolley of Woodford.
Appau-Klu was recognised for her contribution to governance and public policy, joining a list of prominent African leaders and professionals honoured during this year’s edition of the awards, which organisers describe as one of the continent’s leading platforms for recognising excellence and transformational leadership.
Reacting to the recognition, Appau-Klu expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Callistus Mahama and Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for the opportunity to serve at the Ghana Revenue Authority.
She also paid tribute to the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, describing him as her “boss and mentor” whose leadership had been impactful.
The African Achievers Awards, now in its 16th edition, honours individuals and institutions whose work has advanced leadership, innovation, governance, entrepreneurship and sustainable development across Africa. This year’s ceremony at the House of Lords featured senior government officials, diplomats, business executives and development leaders from across the continent.
