GOIL PLC is embracing a bold new direction to redefine fuel retailing in Ghana, with plans to integrate digital technologies and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure into its nationwide network of service stations.
Group CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, unveiled the company’s strategic transformation agenda during a high-level meeting with GOIL dealers from the South-East and Tema Zones.
At the core of GOIL’s digital transformation is the introduction of the GOIL Fuel Management System, a modern platform designed to enable real-time inventory tracking, optimize stock levels, and streamline operations.
The system aims to eliminate inefficiencies, boost transparency, and enhance customer satisfaction at all levels of service.
“We’re not just selling fuel anymore. We’re delivering smart, data-driven energy solutions,” said Mr. Bawa. “Innovation is how we’ll stay competitive and relevant in a rapidly changing world.”
GOIL’s strategy also includes preparing for Ghana’s electric vehicle future. Mr. Bawa announced that the company is working closely with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to support the design and rollout of EV infrastructure. Plans are underway to install EV charging ports at selected service stations across the country.
“GOIL will not wait for the future to arrive, we are building it now,” Mr. Bawa said, “Our vision is to be at the forefront of Ghana’s shift to sustainable energy by making our network EV-ready.”
To enhance the customer experience and future-proof its service stations, GOIL is also preparing to renovate over 270 outlets. These upgrades will not only improve aesthetics and service delivery but also incorporate smart technology to meet emerging market demands.
The company’s innovation strategy is built around five strategic pillars: delivering a premium customer experience, ensuring product availability, deepening dealer partnerships, building trust as a national brand, and driving innovation.
Mr. Bawa further emphasized the need for continued government support to ensure a fair and efficient allocation of licenses and permits for petroleum imports. This, he noted, will allow GOIL to maintain competitive pricing and stabilize fuel supply across the country.
“Our brand was built on trust, but it will grow on innovation,” Mr. Bawa said. “GOIL is not just keeping up, by we’re setting the pace for energy transformation in Ghana.”
