The local oil and gas industry is set for a strategic shift as the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Edward Bawa, outlines his vision for the company’s future.
During a series of engagements with key operational units, Mr. Bawa emphasized the critical role of innovation, efficiency, and strategic partnerships in strengthening GNPC’s position in the country’s upstream petroleum sector.
At a visit to GNPC Explorco, the company’s upstream exploration subsidiary, Mr. Bawa stressed the need for operational independence, robust government support, and a strategic expansion plan to cement its role in Ghana’s energy landscape.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the Voltaian Basin Project, which is expected to unlock significant revenue streams and create employment opportunities within the sector.
Additionally, he urged the team to integrate community engagement and environmental sustainability into their operations, ensuring that growth is both inclusive and responsible.
At GNPC’s Research & Data Centre (RATC), Mr. Bawa stressed the importance of data-driven decision-making in refining exploration strategies and operational efficiencies.
He highlighted the corporation’s need for cutting-edge technology, real-time analytics, and research insights to enhance competitiveness in an evolving global energy market.
