Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated a new nine-member Board of Directors for the Ghana National Procurement Agency (GNPA), charging them to enhance the agency’s operational efficiency and competitiveness to support national economic growth.
At the ceremony in Accra, Ofosu-Adjare congratulated the board members and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to institutional reform and accountability under its economic transformation agenda. She urged the new leadership to strengthen GNPA’s role in supporting local industries and stabilizing commodity supply.
“GNPA’s legacy as a trusted procurement and trading institution must be sustained through efficiency, integrity, and forward-looking management. The new Board must work to reposition GNPA as a competitive player in both the domestic and export commodity markets,” she said.
The Minister also commended the Agency for its resilience and continued relevance in Ghana’s trade and commodity value chain, urging the Board to prioritize transparency, innovation, and good corporate governance in its operations.
On behalf of the new Board, Chairperson Rev. Ernest Kwadzo Agyei expressed gratitude to the Minister and the President for their confidence, pledging to ensure professionalism and accountability in executing the agency’s mandate.
“GNPA is central to the effective and ethical funding of public institutions. We must therefore conduct ourselves with fairness, due process, and an unwavering sense of responsibility to the nation we serve,” he said. “Together with my fellow Board members, we pledge to promote teamwork, professionalism, and sound governance in support of the Ministry’s vision.”
Other members of the newly constituted Board include Ivy Emefa Adiko, Carey Yaw Owusu-Anti, Edinam Kojo Asamoah, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeaboar III, Stephen Kwaku Bonah, Henry Yaw Acheampong, Professor Frederick Dayour, and Joseph Konadu.
The Board pledged to focus on sound management practices, financial discipline, and strategic investments to consolidate GNPA’s market leadership and developmental impact.
Ofosu-Adjare expressed confidence that the new team will help reposition GNPA as a catalyst for advancing Ghana’s trade, industrialization, and food security agenda.
