The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has identified investment opportunities within Ghana’s soybean processing industry following a visit to Vester Oil Mills in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The visit formed part of the Centre’s Regional Investment Roadshow under the Investment Opportunity Mapping Project, an initiative aimed at identifying projects with the potential to attract investment and support industrial growth across the country.
A delegation from the investment promotion agency, led by Deputy Director and Head of Investment Promotion and Business Development Mr. Kwame Kesse-Agyepong, toured the company’s facility at Kuntanase-Deduako to assess opportunities within the soybean value chain.
Management of Vester Oil Mills, led by Managing Director Mr. Kwesi Nyamekye and Operations Manager Mr. Kwabena Marfo Nyamekye, briefed the delegation on the company’s operations and expansion plans.
During the tour, officials observed what the Centre described as “integrated operations” covering the sourcing of soybeans from northern Ghana through to solvent extraction, refining and packaging of finished products.
Company management indicated that the business has significant room for expansion but requires fresh capital to scale up its operations. According to the firm, about $5 million would be needed to “expand production,” introduce fish and poultry feed lines, and deepen local value addition within the soybean processing sector.
The GIPC stated that the engagement was part of efforts to identify viable private sector projects capable of attracting both domestic and foreign investors, particularly in the agro-processing sector.
The Centre added that identifying such opportunities is central to efforts aimed at supporting “job creation” and promoting “resilient agro-industrial development” across Ghana’s regions.
