N’Adom Darko-Asare, one of Ghana’s brightest literacy champions, has officially ended her remarkable journey with The National Spelling Bee Ghana (TNSB-Gh).
Her years of dedication, record-breaking achievements, and impact on Ghana’s literacy development have cemented her legacy as a trailblazer in the nation’s education landscape.
N’Adom’s journey with the Spelling Bee began at the tender age of six. Her resilience, determination, and unmatched skills saw her rise to become a two-time National Champion in 2022 and 2023. She didn’t stop there.
In 2024, she made history by becoming the first Ghanaian to advance to the Semi-Finals of the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States, a milestone that placed her and Ghana in the global spotlight.

“The Spelling Bee has shaped me in ways beyond words. It taught me resilience, teamwork, and the value of perseverance,” N’Adom said when reflecting on her journey. “Leaving now, at the height of my journey, feels like the perfect way to close this chapter.”
Her journey wasn’t one she walked alone. Her brother, the 2019 TNSB-Gh champion, played a pivotal role as her coach and mentor, showcasing the power of sibling support in achieving shared dreams. Together, they have become a symbol of what determination and teamwork can accomplish.

N’Adom’s farewell marks the end of an era for The National Spelling Bee Ghana, which has been nurturing young talent for 17 years as the only African affiliate of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Her achievements reflect not just her personal determination but also the potential of Ghanaian youth to excel on the global stage.
