With 19 market destinations and a global market share of 8.5%, Ghana’s export of Cashew In-shell declined from US$239.2 million in 2022 to US$225.7 million in 2023, the Ghana Exports Promotion Centre has revealed.
According to its report, India was the largest importer of Ghanaian Cashew In-shell.
Similarly, Ghana ranked 3rd in the order of countries that exported Cashew In-shell to the world in 2023 and the leading exporter of Cashew In-shell to India
Ghana’s exports of Cashew In-shell to India grew by an average of 2% between 2019 and 2023. Globally, the Indian market imported about US$1.34 billion of Cashew in-shell in 2023, registering a decline against the 2022 figure of US$1.89 billion.
India was also the leading importer of Cashew in-shell in the world in 2023. Other key suppliers of the product to the Indian market were Cote d’Ivoire (17.1%), Togo (13.6%) and Tanzania.
Whilst exports of Cashew in-shell from Ghana to India declined in value by 3% in 2023 compared to 2022, Ghana registered a positive export growth of 31%, 5,173% and 72% in value to Vietnam, China and Germany.
Again, between 2019 and 2023, exports to Germany registered growth of 69% and 21% in quantity and value respectively.
