The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has been honoured by New West Africa International for exceptional leadership and his contribution to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
The recognition, presented at the Minister’s office by a delegation led by Dr. Dee Otibu Asare, Editor-in-Chief of New West Africa International, acknowledged his record of service, integrity, and strategic vision in advancing the country’s communications and technology sectors.
According to the organisers, George’s leadership has strengthened Ghana’s position in Africa’s digital economy through reforms in communications policy, improved institutional coordination, and the promotion of technology-driven public service delivery. His emphasis on accountability and digital inclusion has been instrumental in expanding access to ICT infrastructure and enhancing data governance standards.

The delegation commended his ideological grounding and commitment to public service, describing his leadership as consistent with Ghana’s broader vision of self-reliance and economic independence. His work within the ministry continues to align with efforts to build a resilient and secure digital ecosystem capable of driving growth across all sectors of the economy. The award forms part of the organisation’s annual recognition programme that celebrates African public figures whose leadership and ethical standards have positively influenced governance, innovation, and national development.

The minister, a third-term Member of Parliament, also serves as Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Network on Work Governance. He is a board member of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), contributing to policy direction and institutional strengthening in Ghana’s ICT landscape.
Before his ministerial appointment, he served as Communication Specialist at the Presidency, Deputy Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Communications Committee, and a member of the Public Accounts Committee. His professional experience has been marked by consistent advocacy for digital transformation, transparency, and innovation-driven governance.
