The Ghana Stock Exchange enjoyed a lively session on Wednesday, with several top stocks making noticeable gains and helping lift the market overall.
Benso Palm Plantation PLC (BOPP) led the way, climbing GH¢1.39 to close at GH¢60.00, although trading remained light at just 2,044 shares.
In the banking sector, Ecobank Ghana PLC (EGH) jumped GH¢2.62 to GH¢28.87, reflecting renewed investor interest, while GCB Bank PLC (GCB) added GH¢1.49, closing at GH¢21.66 on 3,386 shares exchanged.
Other banks posted smaller gains. Access Bank Ghana (ACCESS) and First Atlantic Bank PLC (FAB) each rose GH¢0.01, ending the day at GH¢16.21 and GH¢7.78, respectively.
Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) also edged up GH¢0.01 to GH¢0.77, supported by a high turnover of 174,112 shares.
Trading activity as a whole was steady, with 1.14 million shares changing hands, valued at GH¢4.56 million.
The session highlighted broad-based strength, with both financial and other stocks pushing the GSE Composite Index to 8,925.23 and the Financial Stocks Index to 4,833.05.
Wednesday’s performance underscored growing investor confidence, with positive momentum spreading across key sectors and setting the market on an upbeat trajectory heading into the rest of the week.
