Ghana is pursuing a €323 million financing package for the Northern Ghana Water and Sanitation Project following a meeting between Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle.
Announcing the outcome of the meeting, Ato Forson described it as a “productive meeting” focused on financing arrangements for the project, which aims to address persistent water shortages in Tamale, Yendi and Damongo while improving sanitation in the beneficiary communities.
The financing package comprises a €68 million grant from the European Commission, a €30 million grant from Invest International, a Dutch government initiative, and a €225 million highly concessional facility from the EIB.
The combined €323 million package is expected to support improvements in water supply infrastructure and sanitation services, helping to address longstanding infrastructure gaps in northern Ghana.
