Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Hon. Charles Acheampong, has officially launched a bilateral ECOWAS Free Roaming initiative between Ghana Togo, and Benin.
The event took place at the NCA Tower and builds on the success of the ECOWAS Roaming Initiative already implemented between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, enabling citizens to use mobile services across these countries without incurring international roaming charges.

In his address, Hon. Acheampong highlighted the significance of this initiative in strengthening ties between Ghana and its neighbors, particularly Togo and Benin. He noted that the initiative aligns with the shared vision of a borderless West Africa, promoting seamless communication, business, and social interactions.
This initiative allows our citizens to stay connected without the burden of high roaming charges or the hassle of multiple SIM cards,” he said.
The Deputy Minister also commended the efforts of the Implementation Committees from Ghana, Benin, and Togo, whose dedication made the initiative possible. Dr. Joe Anokye, Director General of the NCA, welcomed participants to the event.
Additionally, Dr. Hervé Coovi Guedegbe, Executive Secretary of Benin’s ARCEP, emphasized the initiative’s importance as a step toward greater regional integration and prosperity in West Africa
