The Ghana Hotels Association (GHA) has denied issuing a press release dated August 26, 2024, that purportedly sought clarification from former President John Mahama on the 24-hour economy policy. Dr. Edward Ackah-Nyamike Jnr., President of the GHA, stated that the release did not originate from their organization and condemned the spread of misleading information.
In a statement issued by the National Executive Council (NEC) Dr. Ackah-Nyamike emphasized that the GHA did not issue the said press release. “Our attention has been drawn to a purported press release allegedly issued by the Ghana Hotels Association. On behalf of the NEC, we wish to state unequivocally that this press release did not originate from our outfit,” he clarified.

Dr. Ackah-Nyamike noted that the GHA maintains direct and official communication channels with political parties for any inquiries regarding their policies. “We engage with political parties through formal and direct communication, not through unauthorized or misleading press releases,” he added.
He urged against the dissemination of false information that could create unnecessary tensions between trade associations and political entities. “We urge those behind such malicious publications to desist from these unpatriotic behaviors that have no place in our democratic process,” he said.

The GHA reaffirmed its commitment to remain apolitical, focusing solely on advocating for a favorable economic and business environment for the hotel industry. “The Ghana Hotels Association is dedicated to promoting an enabling environment for hotels to thrive and is not aligned with any political party or agenda,” Dr. Ackah-Nyamike concluded, reaffirming the Association’s dedication to supporting the hotel industry and fostering growth free from political entanglements and misinformation.
