In a renewed push to bolster its automotive sector, the government is targeting increased Chinese investment and policy reforms to support companies like Zonda Tec Ghana Limited in scaling up local operations and driving industrial transformation.
Speaking after a working visit to Zonda Tec’s facilities in Tema, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding the policy framework to better accommodate heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers.

“The auto policy does not cover the big trucks that they [Zonda] do, so we are reviewing the auto policy to include what they do. These are the things that will encourage them to produce more,” she explained.
“I will be travelling to China under the instructions of His Excellency with them and other Chinese companies. We want to go to China and bring more people to invest in the auto sector and other sub-sectors of the economy. I am happy at what I am seeing, and I encourage Ghanaians to patronize these products,” she added.

The Minister’s visit underscores a growing recognition of the automotive industry as a vital pillar for job creation, skills development, and economic diversification.
Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, a key Chinese player in the Ghanaian auto industry, says it’s already responding to the positive business climate with expansion plans.

“We are enjoying auto policy by assembling the pickups, SUVs. We have three factories and we also have 8 branches. We have a staff of over 500. Ghana is a very positive environment. I always say Ghana is like a white paper, depending on how you are writing on it. If you have positive energy, you will write positive energy on it,” said Yang Yang, Managing Director of Zonda Tec Ghana.
