GBHub Africa has made a groundbreaking investment in a Ghanaian small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), marking a significant step in its mission to transform food systems across the continent.
The organization has provided $50,000 in seed funding and technical support to GreenHeart SE Limited, an agribusiness company specializing in biochar solutions—a technology that combats land degradation while enhancing soil fertility and carbon sequestration.
This investment aligns with GBHub Africa’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, aiming to improve productivity, promote environmental conservation, and support smallholder farmers.
GreenHeart SE’s Innovative Approach
GreenHeart SE produces biochar-based agricultural products that not only boost crop yields but also improve animal health and contribute to climate-smart farming. The company converts organic waste into carbon-negative inputs, reducing environmental impact and supporting global efforts to fight climate change.
CEO of GreenHeart SE, Caleb Lomo, expressed excitement about the investment, stating:
“This support strengthens our ability to scale our sustainable innovations and accelerates our mission to drive climate-smart solutions across industries. With this investment, we are poised for greater impact, expansion, and a future where sustainability and profitability go hand in hand.”
GBHub Africa’s Vision for the Future
GBHub Africa’s Executive Director, Nelson Madiba Amo, highlighted that this investment is part of a broader goal to strengthen Africa’s food systems and improve livelihoods.
“We are committed to supporting Africa’s agricultural sector. This investment in GreenHeart SE is a step towards achieving that vision. With the right backing, GreenHeart SE can expand its reach and impact more local farmers.”
Driving Sustainable Agricultural Practices
Beyond supporting renewable energy solutions in agriculture, this investment lays the groundwork for future funding in projects that strengthen Ghana’s agricultural value chain and enhance food security.
