Frank Dzikunu, also known as Angel FD, has achieved a significant milestone with the nomination of his short film, Kindness Right Back at You, at the upcoming Lagos International Festival of Animation (LIFANIMA). This prestigious event, a leading animation festival in Africa, is set to take place on October 29, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, the heart of Nollywood—one of the world’s largest film industries.
LIFANIMA is renowned for promoting animation across Africa, serving as a key platform for emerging animators, visual effects artists, and industry stakeholders. The festival attracts the attention of investors, producers, and representatives from both the public and private sectors, making it an essential networking opportunity for Africa’s expanding animation community.
Kindness Right Back at You follows the story of Mawuli, a young university graduate in Accra, Ghana, who struggles to find employment after years of searching. On the day of a crucial job interview, Mawuli’s integrity is tested when he finds a wealthy businessman’s briefcase at a bus stop. Despite jeopardizing his own career prospects, Mawuli returns the briefcase, only to discover that the businessman is part of the interview panel. His honesty and moral character ultimately earn him the job, emphasizing the film’s theme that kindness and integrity can lead to unexpected opportunities.

Frank Dzikunu, the film’s director, is a rising star in the animation industry. As the founder of Angel FD Animation and a student at the University of Cape Coast, where he is pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Frank has skillfully balanced his academic pursuits with his passion for animation. His journey into animation began at 19 during his time at Bompeh Senior High Technical School. After completing his secondary education, he worked as a foreman at Wangkang Ceramic Company Ltd for three years, during which he created his first notable work, The Dance, Most Original, a short animation set to Stonebwoy’s music.
Frank has since produced impactful animations, including works focused on raising awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic and inspiring altruism. His dedication to his craft has earned him recognition both locally and internationally, including a first runner-up position at the AMAA Startimes Short Film Festival in 2022.
