Flutterwave has reorganized its risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal leadership team as part of a planned succession strategy, strengthening its governance framework while scaling globally.
The payments technology company announced the appointment of Prashant Kalia as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. Kalia, who brings over 20 years of leadership experience from Circle, Stripe, Amazon, and American Express, is tasked with reinforcing Flutterwave’s global compliance and risk oversight.
“These key changes demonstrate our proactive approach to risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal affairs. This is a planned succession, and Prashant’s deep expertise in risk and compliance will be invaluable as we continue to scale globally.
“We deeply appreciate Amaresh’s contributions and are glad he will continue to advise us. Mobolaji and Bankole’s continued leadership in their new roles will ensure we maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance, legal awareness, and robust risk management,” said Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave.
Kalia began his career at McKinsey after completing an MBA at Columbia University. He later spent more than a decade at American Express, rising to Chief Credit Officer for Corporate Payment Services in Europe and Asia. His subsequent roles included risk and compliance leadership positions at Amazon, Stripe, and Circle. He joined Flutterwave over a year ago.
“I am excited to step into this role as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Flutterwave. Having worked closely with Amaresh and the team over the past few months, I am committed to building upon the strong foundation laid to establish a comprehensive risk and compliance framework that supports the company’s sustainable growth goals,” said Prashant Kalia.
Alongside Kalia’s appointment, Mobolaji Bammeke, who served as Chief Compliance Officer for five years, will transition to Chief Regulatory and Data Protection Officer, continuing to oversee regulatory compliance in Nigeria while broadening his mandate across Flutterwave’s operating markets.
Oluwabankole Falade, who recently assumed the role of Chief Legal Officer, will now serve as Chief Legal, Regulatory, and Public Policy Officer, consolidating oversight across these functions.
“Bringing our legal, regulatory and public policy functions together ensures greater alignment across these areas central to Flutterwave’s global growth. Working with Mobolaji in this integration ensures we are better positioned to proactively engage with the key stakeholders across these functions, strengthening our commitment to regulatory excellence and ability to uphold the highest standards of stakeholder engagement across all our markets of operation,” said Falade.
To ensure continuity, Amaresh Mohan, outgoing Chief Risk Officer, will remain as Strategic Advisor to Kalia and CEO Agboola. Mohan was instrumental in building Flutterwave’s risk function.
