Finance Minister and Chairman of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) Board of Governors, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has held his first official meeting with EBID President, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, in Accra.
The meeting centered on EBID’s performance and efforts to enhance regional reintegration within ECOWAS.
Dr. Donkor outlined the Bank’s recovery and growth, noting a positive financial outlook and a total investment commitment of $4.5 billion across the sub-region as of the end of 2024.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to secure improved ratings from international credit agencies.
On the regional political front, Dr. Forson reaffirmed ECOWAS’s commitment to reintegrating the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) countries, emphasizing that their return is essential for regional unity and sustainable development.
He praised President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership in diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring ties with the AES nations.
The meeting reflects EBID’s renewed push to strengthen collaboration with member states and foster inclusive economic growth across West Africa.
