Eni Ghana a subsidiary of Eni, a global technology-driven energy company has affirmed its leadership in Ghana’s oil and gas sector, earning top honors at the Ghana Energy Awards, where the company and its Managing Director, Maurizio Pinna, were recognized for outstanding performance and a sustained contribution to Ghana’s upstream development and energy transition.
At the awards ceremony in Accra, Eni Ghana was adjudged the Upstream Company of the Year, while Managing Director Maurizio Pinna received the CEO of the Year award. The annual event celebrates excellence across Ghana’s energy value chain from petroleum and power generation to renewables and energy efficiency recognizing organizations and individuals driving the sector’s long-term sustainability.
Organised by the Energy Media Group in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, this year’s event was held under the theme: “Repositioning the Energy Sector as a Pillar of National Development.”
Strengthening Ghana’s Energy Backbone
Eni Ghana’s upstream activities remain a major anchor of the country’s energy supply. The company’s flagship Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project currently supplies competitively priced gas that satisfies about 65% of Ghana’s energy demand, making it one of the most critical contributors to national energy security.
Beyond energy availability, OCTP has delivered significant environmental benefits. The extraction of non-associated gas allows Ghana to power new plants with cleaner fuel, minimize crude oil dependence, and eliminate fugitive methane emissions supporting the country’s lower-carbon transition efforts.
Eni and its partners also hold interests in the CTP-4 block, where new wells are being developed using existing infrastructure to maximise efficiency and reduce development costs.
Investment, Sustainability and Local Development
The company’s social investment programmes continue to be a core component of its operational model. Eni has rolled out initiatives that support local micro-enterprises, improve access to water, education and healthcare, and promote the use of improved cookstoves to reduce wood and charcoal consumption across communities helping to mitigate deforestation and improve public health.
In a major boost to Ghana’s future energy landscape, Eni, Vitol and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) in 2025 signed a USD 1.5-billion agreement with the Government of Ghana. The deal, signed during the Africa Oil Week (AOW) in Accra, aims to increase oil and gas production while promoting sustainable energy initiatives.
The investment package seeks to expand OCTP’s production capacity through integrated offshore and onshore upgrades, ultimately strengthening Ghana’s domestic energy supply and supporting industrial growth.
A Signal of Renewed Confidence
Eni Ghana’s multiple recognitions at the Ghana Energy Awards underscore not only its operational excellence but also its strategic role in shaping the future of Ghana’s energy sector. The honors reflect industry-wide confidence in the company’s long-term commitment to reliability, environmental responsibility and national development.
