The Eastern Region is positioning its economic potential to attract more investment in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and trade, with the government highlighting more than $1.9 billion in wholly Ghanaian-owned projects registered in the region between 1994 and December 2025.
Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Sampson Ahi said the maiden Eastern Expo 2026 provides a platform to showcase the region’s economic opportunities and attract investment into key sectors.
Ahi, who represented Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare as Special Guest of Honour at the expo in Koforidua on Sept. 28, said the region must move beyond showcasing its resources and focus on converting its economic potential into revenue, jobs and improved livelihoods.

The expo is being held under the theme “Eastern EXPO 2026: Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment.”
The ministry said the Eastern Region attracted 44 wholly Ghanaian-owned projects valued at more than $1.9 billion between 1994 and December 2025, alongside 164 foreign-backed projects spanning agriculture, manufacturing, services, tourism and trade.
The figures underline the region’s existing investment base while providing a platform for authorities and businesses to pursue additional capital into sectors seen as capable of generating jobs and expanding economic activity.
Ahi’s remarks place the expo within a broader push to turn the region’s natural and economic resources into commercial opportunities rather than limiting development efforts to promotion and exhibition.

Stakeholders at the event called on prospective investors to put their plans in place and invest in the Eastern Region, citing the potential for mutual investment returns.
The expo therefore brings together trade, tourism and investment as interconnected channels through which the region can deepen economic activity and improve livelihoods, with the government seeking to position the Eastern Region as an investment destination across multiple sectors.
