The stakeholder committee tasked with evaluating DStv pricing in Ghana has requested and received a one-week extension to finalize its work, shifting the expected presentation of outcomes to September 29, 2025.
The committee, which began its work on September 8, was mandated to develop a shared understanding of DStv pricing for Ghana and propose structured, commercially viable measures to address concerns raised by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations.
In addition to reviewing pricing structures, the committee is also working on a roadmap to curb cross-border piracy of DStv decoders and services from Nigeria into Ghana, a challenge that has long undermined fair competition and market stability.
Officials noted that significant progress has already been made, but additional time was required to ensure a comprehensive and mutually acceptable set of recommendations.
The committee’s findings are expected to shape regulatory and commercial frameworks for pay-TV services in Ghana, with potential implications for both pricing transparency and market protection.
