Delta Air Lines has officially launched its new Airbus A330-900 Neo aircraft on the daily nonstop route between Accra, Ghana, and New York’s JFK Airport, starting Wednesday, October 2.
This state-of-the-art aircraft, featuring a seating capacity of 281, promises enhanced comfort for passengers traveling from Ghana to the United States.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Ralph Albus, Director of Global Communications at Delta Air Lines, highlighted that the introduction of the new aircraft was driven by customer feedback and surveys. He noted that the upgraded plane not only increases seating capacity but also enhances passenger comfort through four distinct cabin experiences.
The A330-900 Neo will increase Delta’s seat capacity on the Ghana-U.S. route by approximately 30%, significantly improving the overall travel experience. “The accelerated deployment of this new aircraft reflects the strong demand for our product, and we’re excited to offer passengers a premium onboard experience across the Atlantic with Delta’s renowned service,” Albus stated.
This new addition will provide around 1,000 extra seats each week between Ghana and the United States, allowing travelers to choose from four unique cabin options: Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

In addition to enhanced seating, the aircraft offers increased cargo capacity to accommodate growing demand. The Delta One Suites include fully lie-flat seats, luxury bedding, privacy doors, and gourmet meals paired with premium beverages.
Delta Premium Select features wider seats and additional legroom, while Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin offer spacious seating and memory-foam cushions, along with personalized entertainment options that include over 1,000 hours of content.
Passengers in all cabins will benefit from cutting-edge amenities such as ambient lighting designed for restful flights and access to Wi-Fi available for purchase.
Albus expressed gratitude towards Delta’s loyal customers, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and the government of Ghana. “The launch of the Airbus A330-900 Neo deepens the connection between Ghana and the United States, providing additional capacity and world-class service,” he remarked.
With a positive outlook for the Ghanaian market, Albus emphasized Delta Airlines’ commitment to quality service and expansion of international operations, with safety as the airline’s top priority. “Safety for Delta is our number one priority. We ordered this aircraft ten years ago and currently have 31 in our fleet,” he noted.
He assured customers that they would receive value for their money, highlighting that Delta Air Lines is on track to serve 200 million customers this year. Eloina Baddoo, General Manager of Delta Air Lines, expressed confidence in the demand for the new flight and confirmed that existing prices would remain unchanged.

As part of its commitment to enhancing passenger experiences, Delta Air Lines began rolling out fast, free Wi-Fi on selected long-haul international routes in August. This service, provided by T-Mobile, marks a significant milestone in Delta’s efforts to deliver reliable, high-quality connectivity to its global fleet.
The airline anticipates that most transatlantic flights will offer free Wi-Fi by the end of the summer, further enriching the travel experience for its customers.
