Ghana’s Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) is positioning itself to expand its market presence in Asia following renewed trade commitments with Hunan Accra Cocoa Food Trading Co. Ltd (ACCRACO), a major distributor of semi-finished cocoa products in China.
A delegation from ACCRACO, led by Yin Yingjie, Deputy Director of Commerce for Yiyang City in Hunan Province, visited CPC to consolidate cooperation under the China–Ghana Cocoa Cooperation Agreement. The partnership focuses on increasing the volume of cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and other semi-finished products supplied to Chinese companies involved in chocolate manufacturing and food processing.
Yin said deepening the agreement will support bilateral trade and ensure a steady supply of CPC products to both state-owned and private processing firms in China. He noted that demand for quality cocoa inputs in China continues to rise, creating opportunities for CPC to grow its export share.
CPC Eyes Turnaround Through Export Growth
Managing Director of CPC, Prof. William Coffie, said the renewed partnership aligns with the company’s ongoing turnaround strategy, which aims to improve operational efficiency, address trade challenges and expand export markets.
“Expanding into key international markets is central to CPC’s recovery and growth plan. Our collaboration with ACCRACO provides a strengthened channel to the Chinese market, where demand for quality cocoa products is increasing,” Prof. Coffie said.
He added that CPC intends to utilise the partnership to increase production volumes, enhance value addition and reinforce Ghana’s position in the international cocoa supply chain.

Agreement Anchors Long-Term Business Prospects
ACCRACO serves as CPC’s main intermediary in China, coordinating logistics, warehousing, packaging and distribution. To formalise the next phase of cooperation, the two companies signed a Cocoa Product Purchase and Supply Agreement covering CPC’s Portem and Goldentree brands.
The agreement is expected to ensure consistent market demand for CPC’s output while providing ACCRACO with a reliable source of Ghanaian cocoa products.
The strengthened partnership supports efforts to increase processed cocoa exports and retain more value domestically, in line with national industrial and export diversification goals.
