A recent graduate of the New York Film Academy, Oham is making waves on stage, screen, and in the digital content space, showcasing her versatility and unstoppable drive. Her talent, honed through years of dedication and a relentless passion for acting, is already setting her apart as a rising star.
Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Oham’s love for acting began at an early age. Her first taste of performance came in the 5th grade at the American International School in Abuja, where she starred in a short film produced by her school’s film club. That moment ignited her passion, and she knew her future lay in acting. At the age of 12, Oham moved to the U.S. to attend boarding school, where her involvement in theater and film clubs further solidified her desire to pursue a career on stage and screen.
In 2021, Oham took a significant step towards her dream by enrolling in the New York Film Academy, where she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting for Film. Immersing herself in a variety of acting techniques, including Meisner, Chekhov, voice-over, and improvisation, Oham expanded her skill set far beyond acting. She learned to write, shoot, and edit content, making her a well-rounded creator. While she excelled in dramatic roles, her comedic timing became a standout feature, particularly in her lead role in Stupid Fing Bird, where she displayed a natural talent for live comedy.
After graduating in 2023, Oham’s career quickly gained momentum. Her first professional opportunity arose when a screenwriting instructor invited her to be part of a film project. Soon after, she joined the all-female sketch comedy show Sketch and the City, which premiered in June 2024 at The Player’s Theatre. The show was a success, earning a residency with three additional performances scheduled. For Oham, the experience was a pivotal moment, combining her love for comedy with the energy and excitement of live theater.
Oham’s creativity doesn’t stop at live performances. She is also making her mark in digital content creation. Her comedic sketches on TikTok have attracted attention, and she recently teamed up with former classmates to launch Chin’s Way, a talk show where guests engage in humorous debates on various topics. Production for the show begins in September 2024, with plans to distribute it on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, further expanding her digital presence.
Whether on stage, in front of the camera, or behind the scenes creating content, Chinweizu Oham’s journey is just beginning. With her talent, passion, and dedication, she is well on her way to becoming a standout figure in the entertainment world, with an exciting future ahead.
