Casablanca will host the 4th Capacity-Building Programme for Users of the OIC Business Intelligence Center (OBIC) from November 24 to 26, 2025, as the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) and partners aim to strengthen credit information systems and foster sustainable trade and investment across Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

The three-day programme, sponsored by ICIEC, the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), the African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank), and the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), will convene senior officials and experts to examine the role of business intelligence in enhancing economic decision-making. The opening session will feature partner institutions and provide a platform for discussions on OBIC’s contribution to national and cross-border credit ecosystems, the use of reliable credit information in banking, export operations, investment promotion, and the integration of platforms such as the Africa Trade Gateway.
Participants will explore practical case studies from Tunisia, review the AMAN Union shared credit database, and examine unique entity identifiers like MANSA and GLEIF. The agenda also includes sessions highlighting women’s economic empowerment in Africa and strategies to enhance the use of statistical and business intelligence tools by investment promotion agencies, culminating in a closing ceremony.
Dr. Khalid Khalafalla, CEO of ICIEC, emphasized the importance of the initiative: “Strengthening the quality, reliability, and accessibility of credit information across our Member States is essential to unlocking sustainable trade and investment flows. Through OBIC and this capacity-building programme, we are equipping institutions with tools to make informed decisions, reduce risks, and accelerate economic opportunities across the OIC region. Our partnership with IsDB, BADEA, Afreximbank, and ICDT reflects our shared commitment to building a more transparent, interconnected, and resilient economic ecosystem for our Member States.”
As ICIEC’s flagship initiative, OBIC serves as a critical platform supporting Member States in modernizing credit-reporting ecosystems, strengthening business intelligence infrastructure, and enabling informed decision-making to reduce risk and foster sustainable development. Since its inception, ICIEC has insured over USD 121 billion in trade and investment and continues to promote economic growth across its 51 member states.
The programme represents a milestone in advancing economic transparency, connectivity, and informed decision-making within the OIC, reflecting ICIEC’s ongoing efforts to support trade, investment, and capacity-building in energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.
